How much credit?

It's the question asked by all AP students. What score do I need to get credit at ___ University? How much credit will I get? The College Board has the answers for you right here. When you find out what your school offers, let the rest of us know by posting a comment.

  1. I'm a current AP student, looking into scholarships and related information. I looked online and the requirements seems to vary quite a bit, depending on the college and subject. (for example):

Western MI recognizes all AP scores of 3 or higher with the exception of English and physics which require a 4 or 5.

compared to GVSU, which acepts all subjects with a 3 or higher AP exam grade or UofM, which requires almost all of it's aplicants' scores to be a 4 or higher.

If you have a specefic school in mind, the link above is great for looking up it's requirements and how to submit your AP scores to that school.

  2. Tulane University offers 4 credit hours plus a waive for English 101 for a score of a 4 or 5.

  3. At GVSU, you still have to take WRT 150 if you get a 3, but a 4 or 5 waives WRT 150. A 3 only gets you general writing credit. But, they may waive WRT 150 for you if you get two 3's. It's pretty convenient when they decide to do that.

  4. MSU: On most Advanced Placement Examinations a score of 3 or better will earn waivers or academic credit for equivalent courses.

U of M: Some departments grant credit and placement for a score of 3 or above on a few examinations, most departments require a score of 4 or 5.

    Thanks, Larsen!
