Bono to its op-ed pages. It's enough to make Bill Kristol seem intelligent.
This article is one of the most phenomenal things I've ever read.
ReplyDeleteIt really hits home for me, literally. I grew up in the Detroit area and call it my home. Like Albom says, if you cut Detroit, I bleed. It kills me to see my hometown trashed, just like people in Lowell hate to see it sterotyped.
That city has been through so much, yet there's still life there. The Fox Theater, Detroit Opera House, Detroit Institute of Arts, Greektown. It's a beautiful place, no worse than NYC or Washington DC. There's just no White House or Broadway to distract you from the bad things.
Thanks for posting this and mentioning it in class. I hope people read this article and realize how amazing and cultural and beautiful Detroit really is.
